Draw On! is a community program that began in 2006 with the help of our high school group, Art Lab. Our students invited their schools, town libraries, local coffee shops, even an area hospital to participate in " a week of drawing in the community."

Throughout this week, The Aldrich and various locations around Connecticut celebrate drawing through a series of events and programs open to children, teens, and adults in their community. Each site presents workshops and demonstrations or offers self-guided activities that encourage the exploration of art and ideas through drawing. Even if your organization's focus is not the arts, drawing has the power to encourage visitors to engage with exhibitions, programs, staff, architecture, gardens, etc., in new and exciting ways.

The name Draw On! came about from all the clever surfaces that diverse sites thought of for people to "draw on "– paper cups, old catalogue cards, napkins, newspaper, wood, clay, etc. However, paper and pencil will always be favorites!

Our goal is to bring people together through something as basic as drawing, while at the same time fostering new and imaginative ways to draw.
