Apply to Art Lab

Art Lab is The Aldrich's intensive program for juniors and seniors in high school who are interested in, and who can benefit from, experience in the visual arts. Students meet weekly at the Museum for nine months, where they explore issues in contemporary art, focus on possible career paths, and investigate their creative potential, while interacting with artists and art professionals. The focus is on giving students insight into the contemporary art world. Students meet with curators from the Museum and from New York galleries, meet and create work with contemporary artists in Aldrich exhibitions, review the work of their peers, and help to host Museum events. Projects vary from year to year, depending on the overall interests of the students in the program. Art Lab has a limited number of openings for new participants each year. Applications are available through the education department. Learn more about Art Lab.

Portfolio Review Day for High School Students

Monday, October 22
3 to 7 pm
Free for high school juniors and seniors

The Aldrich Contemporary Art Museum's eleventh Review Day will provide a unique and inspirational environment in which students considering a career in the arts will receive input on their portfolios from the admissions officers of some of the nation's premier art schools and universities.

The Aldrich proudly maintains relationships with both students and teachers from more than seventy-five high schools in Fairfield, Westchester, Putnam, and Litchfield Counties. Many of these students have participated in Aldrich programs throughout their high school careers, and consider the Museum to be not just an art resource, but also a place to seek inspiration and guidance while planning for the future. Last year Portfolio Review Day attracted over one hundred students from twenty-eight high schools to meet with representatives from eighteen institutions.

No reservations are required. Doors open at 3 pm.

  • Volunteering and Internships

The Aldrich Contemporary Art Museum is a laboratory for museum education, dedicated to mentoring the next generation of museum professionals. Our interns are organized, creative, and motivated students looking to gain insight into how a contemporary art museum operates. Internships are generally unpaid, but offer the opportunity to build professional skills and relationships with experienced museum mentors.

Internships are offered in departments including Public Relations, Curatorial, Education, and Development. Most internships are related to specific projects and take place over three summer months. However, some departments accept applications throughout the year.
