Aldrich Draws 700 Visitors to Ridgefield

March 2008

The Aldrich Contemporary Art Museum attracted over 700 visitors last weekend to participate in the excitement of a quadruple exhibition launch. Visitors began to pour into town on Thursday evening for First Thursdays. In anticipation of the official opening of the exhibition Painting the Glass House: Artists Revisit Modern Architecture, the Museum hosted a lecture by Michael Cannell, former editor of The New York Times's House & Home section and present director of online content for dwell.com, followed by personal consultations with four local style-makers.

On Friday evening, members joined Trustees, Museum staff, and Painting the Glass House curators Jessica Hough and Mónica Ramírez-Montagut Behind the Scenes for a private gallery walk-through and reception.

The festivities concluded on Sunday with a packed exhibition opening to celebrate the debut of the new exhibitions: Painting the Glass House: Artists Revisit Modern Architecture (on view through July 27, 2008); Halsey Burgund: ROUND (on view through July 27, 2008); Gary Panter: Daydream Trap (on view through August 31, 2008); and Ester Partegàs: The Invisible (on view through August 10, 2008). Guests also enjoyed the panel discussion featuring Painting the Glass House curators Hough and Ramírez-Montagut, along with exhibiting artists Daniel Arsham, Angela Dufresne, and Terence Gower, as well as the first opportunity to acquire Gary Panter's all new Aldrich Edition, Daydream Trap, and book, Gary Panter. Aldrich director Harry Philbrick said, "We are very pleased with the good turn-out and positive response to the new exhibitions, as well as the excellent feedback with regard to the related programming."
