Education Department Database Intern

Applications are accepted on a rolling basis and are available until the positions have been filled.
This is a research-based internship in The Aldrich Contemporary Art Museum's Education Department. The successful applicant will learn basic skills such as researching, database organization, program presentation and development, and professional liaison.
The intern will gain insight into how museums compile information for databases while learning:
- How to select contacts for the database
- How to organize a database
- How to create an efficient and useful database
- How the database is used within the department
The intern's responsibilities will include:
- Internet research
- Telephone calls to organizations
- Close liaison with other education staff and the Museum's overall database manager
In addition to the database responsibilities, the intern will gain experience in general museum education, with the opportunity to sit in on full staff meetings as well as Education Department meetings, gaining unique insight into the inner workings of a contemporary art museum and inter-departmental collaboration and cooperation. The intern will see how an idea moves from conception to completion within the Education Department, experiencing the various steps that must be taken through the other departments of The Aldrich.
Qualifications:
- Available 2 to 3 days/20 hours per week
- Creative and outgoing
- Able to work independently
- Comfortable working with and communicating with diverse groups of people
- Interested in Arts organization database management and education
