Open Call! Participate in An Aldrich Exhibition and Meet Your Neighbors
Fritz Haeg’s exhibition Something for Everyone, on view at The Aldrich Contemporary Art Museum from June 27, 2010, to January 2, 2011, will involve a series of projects that encourage the interaction of people and nature while exploring the repurposing of traditional spaces, such as the front lawn.
Do you have a skill or interest that you would like to share with others? Haeg’s Los Angeles-based Sundown Schoolhouse will be temporarily housed in a geodesic tent on The Aldrich's front lawn as part of Something for Everyone, and he is looking for speakers and workshop leaders.
As the exhibition title suggests, Schoolhouse programs can cover a myriad of topics, but might include poetry readings; arts and crafts, such as knitting and needlepoint; fictional or historical storytelling; talks on politics, race, and gender; intellectual mixers; indie video screenings; pet meet and greets; meditation sessions; book clubs; bible studies; etc.
Proposals for a workshop, seminar, or class to be taught to a small group, either once, or as a short series, should be emailed to Fritz Haeg at studio@fritzhaeg.com. Schoolhouse classes will be scheduled Fridays to Sundays, 12 noon to 1:30 pm, from July 2 until early October.
All Schoolhouse events will be free and open to the pubic, and the evolving schedule will be continually updated online at The Aldrich and at the artist’s Web site: http://www.fritzhaeg.com/studio/projects/aldrich.html
