$450.00Laser cut stainless steel, urethane paint on epoxy primer
Aldrich Edition of 24
4 Artist's proofs,
2 Museum proofs, signed and numbered certificate.
A breakthrough stainless steel sculpture from an artist known for her painted-paper sculptures, which combine rigorous geometric abstraction with the chaotic ad-hoc structure of urban sprawl. Cantilevered off the wall, South's architectural compositions push the material constraints of paper, offhandedly referencing, among other things, the engineering of scaffolds, theatre marquees, curtain walls, catwalks, shelves, and suspension bridges. South was the recipient of a Pollock-Krasner Foundation Grant in 2001. Her work was featured in The Aldrich exhibition Solitude and Focus: Recent Works by MacDowell Colony Fellows in 2005.
